Lift Architrave and panels in
V-Grooved and folded electro zinc coated mild steel

Fenman House is an up-market apartment building in King’s Cross which required a luxurious fit-out but, of course, on a budget. Bluecoat Engineering were the contractor to manufacture the lift and lobby area panelling, doors, lift interiors and architraves.

To create a solid-looking architrave,panels and runners Bluecoat Engineering asked John Desmond Ltd to V-Groove electro zinc coated mild steel sheet.

The effect is of solid bronze and the bronze colour complements the dark stained oak veneer panelling adjacent to the metalwork.

V-Grooving for Brise Soleil, canopy and column in PVD coloured stainless steel.

A very traditional-looking finish was required with a façade that would measure up to its impressive neighbours in Fetter Lane. A solid bronze brise soleil with canopy and supporting column would certainly provide the emphasis and expensive-looking façade but the practical disadvantages of constructing fins for the brise soleil from solid material meant they would bow in the middle.

A V-Grooved and folded skin for the fins was fabricated which was fitted around timber inserts. This created the effect of solid bronze fins without the issued of the weight and bowing that solid material would impose.
